Reading Around the World volunteers have collected over 13,000 books, supplied 350 desks and chairs in support of the Tanzanian Ministry of Education’s desk initiative, built libraries and technology centers and, in partnership with Overpass Apps Ltd., developed an educational game to help Swahili Speaking primary school students learn English as a second language.
At the Gerezani Primary School, students are reading fluently in English, and test scores have increased from a 2.0 to a 2.99 grade point average.
There are multiple ways you can help others to change their lives
